The idea for a solo project came to Vivanne Roy during the last three years on the road with Les Hay Babies. The band was garnering success wherever they went; winning les Francouvertes in Montreal in 2013, getting instant fans in France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium on three consecutive tours, receiving multiple East Coast Music Award nominations and winning the French Songwriter of the Year award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. The fact that she had no deep roots anywhere, travelling from hotel room to hotel room in often unfamiliar cities, inspired new songs. Thus was born Vivianne's solo project, Laura Sauvage. Among other artists, the work of Wilco, Feist, Beck, Julie Doiron, and Neil Young were the chief inspirations for her new songs. Roy arranged all of these new songs herself and eventually leading to the recording of her first EP, Americana Submarine. A few months later, having chained the stage solo appearances including a European tour with Julie Doiron and a Canadian tour opening for The Barr Brothers, Laura Sauvage returns to writing, this time for her first full length album, Extraordinormal. Surrounded with veteran Dany Placard, co-producer and bassist, the quiet force Mathieu Vezio on the drums and percussion, the versatile Ben Bouchard on the keyboards and on mixing, and the guitar hero Olivier Langevin, Laura Sauvage was isolated for a week at the Wild Studio, to record this timeless album, which will be release under Simone Records label on March 25, 2016.
