Wunderstrands offer dreamy pop songs imagined seaside and recorded in the woods of northern Ontario. Their self-titled debut released in 2014 is a collaboration between Mara Pellerin and Brad Kilpatrick, and was co-produced by Hawksley Workman. Wunderstrands are excited to be performing at Lawnya Vawnya this coming May 2016.
"The album's nine organic-sounding tracks toe the line between atmospheric folk and moody rock. Opener "Tightrope Walker" begins the album with distorted electric tones and momentum-building melancholia. "Kate" also swells to cinematic climax, while songs like "You" and "Lines" are nocturnally gentle." - EXCLAIM
From a shapeshifting ocean's swell ("houle" in French) emerges a stark improvised journey with Anaïs Maviel, joined by visual artist and puppeter My Lê Chabert. Aesthetically exploring depths and their formless origins. A fearless expression of voice and bodies in transmutation, budding hybrid creations, and weaving their wordless stories.
Ada is from Portland, Maine. They appreciate ambience, ambiguity, noise and post-rock vibes. They write songs that hover around coalescence and collapse; valuing familiarity and nostalgia, bareness, and brokenness. The bands’ latest recording was tracked at Hotel 2 Tango in Montreal, Quebec by Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Efrim Menuck, and will be released later this year.
