Self-taught guitarist and composer Roddy Ellias combines a deep relationship with both classical music and jazz in his composition, improvisations and interpretations of jazz standards. He’s performed and/or recorded with numerous jazz giants including Lee Konitz, Tom Harrel, Joel Frahm, David Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Cleo Laine, Ray Anderson, and has toured with his own projects throughout Canada and the United States. His latest two CDs, Sticks and Stones (with Marc Copland and Adrian Vedady) and Monday’s Dream (with Adrian Vedady and Thom Gossage), have both received glowing reviews from respected publications Including Downbeat Magazine, Just Jazz Guitar, All About Jazz, Sound/Stage Xperience, the CBC and The Ottawa Citizen. The quartet for this project includes former collaborator’s Felicity Williams and Jim Lewis as well as Dan Fortin, all of whom Roddy is super excited to make music with!
