Carew is a bird with a song for every feeling that sings in divergent melodies and caffeine-tinged euphoria through flights of first crushes to the loneliness of growing up and so much more. Carew is a rock band from Ontario, Canada led by songwriter Claire Whitehead. Following a ten-year career of touring and performing on violin and guitar with a handful of groups like Forest City Lovers and Blimp Rock, Whitehead now draws from a well-spring of inspiration in rock, folk, experimental music and poetry to tell her own stories as Carew.
Ryan Carley has been away a long time, enraptured by the circling fear, and treading the depths of unknowing, year upon year. And for all he has seen, in the endless reaches of thought and dream, he’s only ever longed for this world here, to just do, and to have been. But now, in the great returning of our lives, new treasure is revealed. It gathers to us, in the simple transit of our being. In the striking illumination we find songs in new and various settings, bravely leading us one after the next through the landscape and atmosphere of another world entirely, yet somehow familiar to those who have heard the call.
